Every business knows it needs a website. The relevant question is why does it need a website? The answers we receive from our clients when asked why they believe they need a website range from a desire to look good and be credible to, “I’m not really sure why I need it.”
We’re not trying to frustrate our clients, but instead get them thinking about how they use their online presence.
The reality is that most business owners are not taking advantage of some extremely powerful tools for growing their businesses through the Internet. Often they’re even getting in the way of otherwise enjoying business growth through the effective use of their website.
A few years ago we decided to commit ourselves to the process of providing additional value to our clients through the execution of good Internet Marketing. This is simply the process of optimization websites for maximum conversion of visitors into prospects and customers. We simply felt that we could no longer build interesting looking equivalents of leaflets tossed into the wind. We wanted to see what we created actually benefit a business in measurable ways.
And so we became experts in the concepts of Internet Marketing.
1. Pay Per Click: The process of bidding on relevant keywords in search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN. An example of a keyword may be “Financial Planning Services Telluride”. The great thing about PPC is you can, over time, establish exactly how much it will cost to generate a customer. “If I spend $350 this month with Google on PPC I’ll end up with eight new customers based on my history of ad spending and conversions rate with Google.”
2. Search Engine Optimization: The practice of optimizing a site for a preferred set of keywords to gain preferred non-paid placement in the search engines. There is saying in the world of Internet Marketing that starts and ends with, “If you’re not on page one you’re nowhere.” There are a few ways to improve your SEO score to improve your ranking in the search engines. Without getting into an explanation of methodologies that would make your eyes glaze over we’ll just say it’s a service we provide.
3. Unique Content Generation: Creating updated and unique content for your website. Search engines love unique and frequently updated website content. This does not mean that every page on a site has to be updated. One method that serves a dual purpose of satisfying the search engines preference for active sites and also provides a means of regular communication with prospects and clients is a company news feed or blog.
4.Clear conversion paths: The process of creating action on the part of the website visitor to become a prospect or customer. By being thoughtful about the layout and content of a website clear conversion paths can be created for your visitors. It’s a given that not every visitor to a website is going to convert into a paying customer. But by using opt-in forms to create email lists and a strong call to action businesses can enjoy increased customer activity from their websites.
A fair number of our clients simply need great looking websites. We do that. (And we’ll do it all day long!) However, we want to make our Internet Marketing expertise available to our prospects as an extremely viable, scalable, and effective way to grow your business.
